Why Visit

Ozette Campground

Ozette is one of the most remote campgrounds in Olympic National Park, sitting on the shore of Lake Ozette in the far northwest corner of the park. Famous wooden boardwalk trails lead through old-growth rainforest to Cape Alava and Sand Point, two of Washington's most untouched Pacific beaches. Bald eagles and sea lions are common sights.

National Park

One of Washington's crown jewels

Ozette sits at the edge of Lake Ozette, Washington's third-largest natural lake, within Olympic National Park's remote coastal wilderness — the only place in the lower 48 where an ancient temperate rainforest meets the open Pacific. The Ozette Triangle boardwalk trail, built to protect the fragile coastal prairie ecosystem, leads through a 9.4-mile loop to dramatic sea stacks, tide pools, and the Cape Alava archaeological site of a pre-contact Makah village buried by a mudslide 500 years ago. Bald eagles are year-round residents along the lakeshore, and the rocky offshore islets support breeding colonies of tufted puffins, pigeon guillemots, and common murres.

🗺️

This campground is best suited for small trailers and vans — the gravel access road and tight loop limit rigs over 21 ft. Walk-in tent sites along Lake Ozette are the most scenic and worth the short carry. Plan to arrive by Thursday if camping on a summer weekend. Cell service is nonexistent; download offline maps and tide charts before you leave pavement.
