18-site riverside campground in old-growth fir and cedar along the South Fork Stillaguamish River on the Mountain Loop Highway.
Turlo Campground sits in a cathedral of tall Douglas fir, western red cedar, and hemlock along the rushing South Fork Stillaguamish River on the Mountain Loop Highway. Eighteen sites accommodate RVs up to 30 feet with vault toilets, potable water, and fire pits. The campground's shaded, riverside setting makes it a quiet retreat from summer heat. Turlo is a good choice for families who want river wading access in an old-growth forest setting with Granite Falls services under 16 miles west.
Turlo Campground sits in the South Fork Stillaguamish valley within the Mountain Loop Highway corridor of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, surrounded by old-growth forest recovering from selective logging and increasingly dominated by large trees over 300 years old. The South Fork Stillaguamish River at camp is recognized as critical Chinook salmon habitat, and winter steelhead fishing in this stretch draws anglers from across the Puget Sound region to the clear, cold pools within the campground. The Mountain Loop's North Fork trail system above Barlow Pass accesses the Glacier Peak Wilderness — 566,000 acres of roadless alpine terrain centered on the 10,541-foot volcano — making this one of the most accessible portals to a truly remote wilderness in the Cascades.

Small and often overlooked — a great option when Gold Basin is full. Sites near the Stillaguamish River (1–8) are the highlight. Limited facilities but pleasant forest setting. Good base for the same Mountain Loop trails as Gold Basin at a fraction of the congestion. Typically easier to get a last-minute site than any other Mountain Loop camp.
