Why Visit

Bedal Campground

Bedal Campground occupies a beautiful stretch of the Sauk River on the eastern Mountain Loop Highway section near Darrington. Twenty-two sites accommodate RVs up to 35 feet on gravel pads, with vault toilets and a boat ramp for whitewater paddlers. National Park

One of Washington's crown jewels

Bedal Campground sits at the confluence of the North and South Forks of the Sauk River in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, at the base of the Glacier Peak Wilderness — one of the largest and most remote roadless areas in Washington State. The Sauk River above the campground is designated Wild and Scenic, flowing from the glaciers of Glacier Peak through undisturbed old-growth forest in a valley with no road access above the campground — a rare example of a fully intact Cascade river corridor. The North Fork Sauk Falls trail, 2.5 miles above camp, reaches a dramatic waterfall in old-growth canyon — and the trail continues to the Glacier Peak Wilderness boundary where solitude and wild alpine terrain begin within a half-day's walk from the car.

🗺️

Furthest campground on the paved section of Mountain Loop Highway — quieter and more remote feeling than Verlot or Gold Basin. River sites along the Sauk (1–10) are excellent. Good staging camp for the North Fork Sauk River wilderness trail. Often available when lower campgrounds are full. The road beyond Bedal becomes unmaintained gravel — check current conditions with the Darrington Ranger District before proceeding.
