National Park

One of Washington's crown jewels

Tinkham Campground sits in the South Fork Snoqualmie River valley just west of Snoqualmie Pass, where the river corridor serves as critical wild steelhead conservation habitat and the I-90 wildlife crossings above camp allow cougars and bears to safely cross the freeway. The Alpine Lakes Wilderness is accessible via trails from camp, and the surrounding Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest provides a forested buffer between the urban Puget Sound region and one of Washington's most beloved backcountry wilderness areas. Snoqualmie Pass above the valley marks the ecological divide between Washington's wet maritime west slope and the drier east-Cascades forest — a boundary that creates dramatic species diversity in the surrounding mixed forest just a 45-minute drive from Seattle.

🗺️

Small campground on the South Fork Snoqualmie River — sites along the river (1–8) are the nicest with good swimming holes. Great base for Franklin Falls (3 mi), Snoqualmie Falls (25 mi), and I-90 corridor day hikes. Fills on summer weekends; arrive Friday afternoon to secure a river site. More intimate and quieter than nearby Gold Basin.
