One of Washington's crown jewels

Panorama Point Campground sits on Baker Lake's western shoreline directly beneath the North Cascades wilderness, where Mount Baker's glaciated summit dominates the northern skyline and the Twin Sisters Range rises to the east in a dramatic tableau of permanent ice and rugged peaks. The Baker Lake watershed above the campground includes Cascade River tributaries that flow through some of the most productive Pacific salmon habitat in the North Cascades — and the restoration of salmon passage above Upper Baker Dam is one of Washington's most significant in-progress fisheries recovery projects. Mount Baker's intense volcanic heat produces the highest snowfall ever recorded at a US weather station — 95 feet in one winter — and the resulting glacial meltwater draining into Baker Lake is what gives the lake its distinctive aquamarine tint visible from the campground.

🗺️

Baker Lake's best-kept secret — small, remote, and rarely full when Horseshoe Cove is booked out. Sites near the lakeshore (1–8) are exceptional, with the same turquoise-blue water as the larger campgrounds. First-come, first-served typically; arrive Friday morning for a weekend site. The trail north from the campground along the lake offers some of the finest views of Mt Baker reflected in the water.
