Why Visit

Graves Creek Campground

Graves Creek is one of the quietest and most remote campgrounds in Olympic National Park, set deep in the Quinault Rain Forest at the edge of the park's largest wilderness. Enormous Sitka spruce and western red cedar line the Quinault River. The trailhead here leads to the Enchanted Valley, beloved by families willing to make the trip.

National Park

One of Washington's crown jewels

Graves Creek is the gateway to the Quinault Rain Forest, a southwestern arm of Olympic National Park's legendary rainforest ecosystem where annual rainfall averages 12 feet and every surface is layered with moss, lichen, and ferns. The Quinault Valley shelters record-breaking trees — the world's largest western red cedar, Sitka spruce, and Douglas fir all grow within a few miles of the campground. The Quinault River watershed is critical habitat for five species of Pacific salmon, and fall spawning runs draw bald eagles and black bears to the riverbanks in remarkable concentrations.

Insider Knowledge

Site recommendations from the field

🗺️

Very remote and first-come, first-served — the 23-mile gravel road into the Quinault Valley deters most casual visitors and availability is typically good. Best for small trailers and vans; the access road is rough for rigs over 24 ft. Sites near the Graves Creek trailhead are most convenient for wilderness hikers. Stock up on supplies in Aberdeen before heading in — no services beyond the ranger station.
