Washington State Parks — built for exploration

Osoyoos Lake Veterans Memorial State Park sits at the northern end of the Okanagan Valley where the lake crosses the international border into Canada, at the northernmost extension of the Great Basin shrub-steppe — Washington's only true desert ecosystem. The Okanagan Valley corridor is one of North America's most significant bird migration bottlenecks, and Osoyoos Lake's wetland margins attract exceptional diversity of migratory waterfowl, shorebirds, and raptors during spring and fall Pacific Flyway passage. The surrounding arid hillsides support species at the northern edge of their range including canyon wren, sage thrasher, and western rattlesnake, while the lake's warm water supports one of Washington's better kokanee and rainbow trout fisheries.

🗺️

Waterfront sites on Washington's warmest lake fill months out — these are the most in-demand sites in northeast WA and require booking the day the 6-month window opens. Sites 1–30 on the lakeshore are premium. The lake is comfortable for swimming from early June through September. Hookup sites in Loops B and C for extended stays. Proximity to Canada (Osoyoos, BC is 2 miles away) makes this popular for cross-border visits.
